Community in Beaverton

Beaverton is a close-knit community with a strong downtown, a beautiful waterfront, and neighbors who show up for one another. BABA is proud to support the events, projects, and partnerships that help our community thrive.

As a chamber-style organization, BABA focuses on practical, local support. Here’s how we serve our members and our community every day.

A Brief History of Beaverton
1863 – Today
A Brief History of Beaverton
From Lumber Camp to Lakeside City
Beaverton began as a lumber settlement in the 1860s, at the meeting point of the Tobacco and Cedar rivers. What started as “Grand Forks” slowly grew into a permanent community.

In 1890, the Donald Gunn Ross & Sons lumber company from Beaverton, Ontario, formally founded the town. Donald Ross became the first postmaster in 1891, and Beaverton was incorporated as a village in 1901 and as a city in 1903, with William Ross serving as the first mayor.

Early settlers such as Marvil Secord helped establish Beaverton as a key stop along the Pere Marquette Railroad. Today, that history lives on in our downtown, our rivers, and the strong sense of community that still defines Beaverton.

Community Organizations

Ross Lake & Recreation
Ross Lake, Parks & Play

The Beaverton area is home to Ross Lake, Ross Lake Splash Park, and community parks that bring families and visitors together. BABA supports activities and promotions that highlight these spaces and encourage people to enjoy everything our area has to offer.

Community Events
Events That Bring Us Together

BABA helps promote community events throughout the year—parades, holiday celebrations, seasonal promotions, and member-hosted activities. These events create reasons to gather downtown, support local businesses, and celebrate what makes Beaverton unique.

Have an event or idea that supports the community? Let us know—we’re always looking for ways to help spread the word and partner where we can.

Partners & Collaboration
Working Together

We proudly collaborate with the City of Beaverton, Beaverton Schools, the Beaverton Activity Center, local nonprofits, churches, and civic groups. By working together, we can accomplish more than any one organization can on its own.
